Change Management
The Opportunity
A new management team had been chosen in the process of effecting a turnaround business plan. A combination of those newly promoted from outside and existing leadership team members were represented. Showing unity of the newly appointed team was key to engaging the organization’s support of the changes needed to return the business to profitability.
Analysis and Action
A coach was brought in to meet with the new team. The team committed to a process geared towards improved effectiveness and cohesion. Several steps were taken, including goal setting, team assessments, and opportunities for team building.
Change management training was provided at all leadership levels. Communication was managed throughout the company – focused on being clear, repeatable, and concise.
Results
The team performed well throughout the turnaround. The business returned to profitable levels over the ensuing 18 months. Team members were regarded as exemplary leaders in the company and were tapped for promotion opportunities. This was used as a model for other change management situations in the company.
